Our Pathway to Impact

Building for the Future

At TEMBO Canada, we are committed to creating meaningful, lasting impact through the support we provide to our Tanzanian partners. To do this effectively, we have developed a clear framework that helps us understand how our funding contributes to positive change and how we can track progress over time.

This approach helps us connect the resources we invest with the results we hope to achieve, ensuring that our efforts support strong educational opportunities, community development, and long-term success. By regularly measuring outcomes and learning from our experiences, we can strengthen our programs, demonstrate accountability, and maximize the impact of every dollar invested in our partners and the communities they serve.

Ultimately, this framework reflects TEMBO Canada’s mission to support sustainable, community-driven change and to help create opportunities that empower students and communities across Tanzania.

OUR VALUES

TEMBO Canada considers the following to be the five most important values of the organization:

Partnership and collaboration with the local Tanzanian community

We achieve more when we collaborate, communicate and work together.

Accountable to donors and stakeholders

Each of us is responsible for our words, our actions and, our results.

Respect, Trust and Integrity

We build trust and respect through responsible actions, honest relationships and treating people with dignity and professionalism.

Transparency

We operate and communicate in an open and honest manner, sharing information in order to build confidence and manage expectations.

Responsive and Flexible

We listen to the needs of our Tanzanian partners and adapt our efforts to meet their requirements as circumstances change.

TEMBO Theory of Change. Vision: We envision a world where the girls and women of Longido District, Tanzania have equal access to education and economic opportunities, with growing support from their families and communities. The chart shows three pathways, each moving from short-term actions to medium-term outcomes to long-term impact. Pathway 1: Financial support for education, transition programs, and safety for sponsored girls leads to girls staying in secondary school longer and building lasting self-confidence and self-advocacy skills, so that an increased number of vulnerable girls succeed in post-primary education. Pathway 2: Micro-finance loans alongside business and vocational training for supported women lead to marginalized women strengthening their employment skills, gaining literacy, and starting income-generating activities, so that an increased number of marginalized women achieve greater financial security. Pathway 3: Strategic support for capacity-building and sustainability of Tanzanian partners leads to partners expanding their program delivery and their advocacy for girls' and women's empowerment, resulting in increased civil society support for girls' and women's education and opportunities. TEMBO is a registered Canadian charity that empowers our community-based partners to deliver programmes that provide fair and equitable access to education and economic opportunity in Longido District, Tanzania.
