Girls' Education
Girls’ education is at the heart of TEMBO’s mission.
Secondary School Sponsorship
TEMBO supports our partners mission to equip girls with the tools, support, and opportunity to reach their full potential and contribute to thriving communities.
Since 2007, TEMBO has sponsored more than 650 girls to attend secondary school. In 2026 alone, our donors are sponsoring 187 girls to achieve their dream of acquiring a secondary school education.
TEMBO Tanzania provides girls with a school uniform, textbooks, toiletries, and the to complete a secondary school education.
In Tanzania, one third of all girls are married by the age of 18, and girls from low-income families face the highest risk of early marriage.
3.2 million children aged 7-17 are out of school, of which 1.2 never attended. (UNICEFnicef, 2025)

Her Story
Meet Sesita
Today, Sesita is in secondary school thanks to the support of our TEMBO donors. Her journey reflects what is possible when girls are given the chance to continue their education.
“When people talk about education, they are happy. When you see someone doing something good, you say ‘education’. When you see someone in a house, you say ‘education’.” – Sesita
Post-Secondary Education
The success of the girls sponsored by TEMBO does not end with secondary school. Each year, more young women are achieving strong academic results and advancing to college and university, pursuing studies in fields such as education, social work, business, accounting, and community development. With continued support from TEMBO, these determined young women are gaining the knowledge and skills needed to build independent futures, contribute to their communities, and inspire the next generation of girls to follow in their footsteps.

The Power of Girls' Education
“Investing in girls’ education transforms communities, countries, and the entire world.” — UNICEF, 2023.
TEMBO has seen this impact firsthand. Education helps girls delay early marriage, improve family health and income, and become leaders within their communities.
Our 2023 Girls’ Research Study: The Power of Education confirmed what local families have long known — when girls are supported to learn, the benefits extend far beyond the classroom.
