A hub for informal educational opportunities in Longido

What we support

Longido’s Hub for Informal Learning

The Longido District Learning Centre is a shared space for learning, connection, and opportunity.

Supported by TEMBO and officially opened in February 2016, the Centre serves learners of all ages across the community. It reflects TEMBO’s belief that education is strongest when people have safe, welcoming places to learn together.

A Learning Hub for All Ages in Longido

The Centre includes:

  • a bright primary school room filled with books and educational resources for preschool and primary students
  • a computer room
  • and versatile classrooms and meeting spaces.

It hosts after-school programs, adult literacy classes, a tailoring program for women, and regular community meetings.
Every afternoon, the Centre comes alive as local school children drop in to read, study, and discover new opportunities. A dedicated team of six staff –– including a qualified secondary school teacher funded by the Longido District Council –– ensures that the Centre continues to grow as a place of learning, connection, and opportunity.
